A “below-seal globe valve” refers to a specific type of globe valve where the valve stem and disk are positioned below the sealing surface of the valve. To understand this better, let’s break down the components and workings of a globe valve:

lValve Body: The body of a globe valve is typically spherical or cylindrical in shape.

lValve Seat and Disc: Inside the valve body, there’s a valve seat and a movable disc or plug. The valve seat is where the disc makes contact to create a seal, controlling the flow of fluid.

lValve Stem: The valve stem is connected to the disc and is used to move the disc up and down, controlling the flow of the fluid through the valve.

Now, in a “below-seal” design:

lValve Seat Position: The valve seat, where the disc makes contact to form a seal, is located below the normal flow path of the fluid.

lDisc Movement: When the valve stem is turned or moved, the disc moves in a downward motion towards the valve seat to close the valve and forms a seal by making contact with the seat.

lSealing: When the disc seals against the valve seat, it prevents the flow of fluid through the valve. Conversely, lifting the disc away from the valve seat allows fluid to flow through the valve.

In the closed position, the disc securely rests against the valve seat, effectively blocking the passage of fluid.
