Smriti Mandhana Thanks RCB Fans For Support: Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Smriti Mandhana thanked the fans following the franchise’s first title win in 16 years as the women’s team defeated Delhi Capitals in the final of 2024 WPL.

RCB took on DC in the final of the second-ever WPL. The match was played in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, and the side playing on their home ground won the toss and chose to bat first. WPL 2024

DC got onto a fantastic start, getting to the 60-run mark in the sixth over. But then, the tides changed when Sophie Molineuz took three wickets in the eighth over, including an in for Shafali Verma.

The Capitals collapsed from 64/0 to 113 all-out. This was a disaster class from what was, until this point, the best team in the tournament.

RCB then chased the target down with relative ease. The chase did go down to the final over, but it was never in doubt that RCB would win the match and lift the title.

Following the match, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana relished the franchise’s first title win in 16 years. The Men’s team is yet to lift the IPL title.

The loyal fanbase of the team has a famous saying, “Ee Sala Cup Namde.” In Kannada, it roughly translates to, “This year the cup will be ours.”

But for the past decade and a half, that has not been something the Bengaluru franchise has accomplished, until last night.

Smriti Mandhana Thanks RCB Fans For Support

Mandhana, in the post-match presentation, thanked the fans for their support to the team. In the end, she made a slight change to the iconic line which signified that they had won the cup.

“I think I have a message for the and I think the most loyal fanbase nothing would have happened without the kind of support they shown throughout. One statement that always comes up is Ee Saala Cup Namde. Finally, I want to say Ee Saala Cup Namdu. It was important to say it for the fans,” said Mandhana.

With the women winning the title in just their second attempt, it is up to RCB men’s team to lift a trophy. They will commence their 17th attempt when they take on defending champion Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of IPL 2024 on March 22.
